Methodology & sources

A tool should show its work.

Money Journal separates government facts, arithmetic, your assumptions, and decisions that require a qualified professional. We show sources, rule versions, and review states where the result is used.

01

Source hierarchy

We start with official Canadian government, regulator, and public-agency sources. We do not use search snippets, social posts, or unreviewed creator content to supply calculation rules.

02

Rule review

High-impact benefit rates, dates, scope rules, and safety routes are stored in a versioned registry. A blocking rule is removed from calculation if it expires before review.

03

Calculation boundaries

Tools may perform arithmetic on values you enter and illustrate a scenario. They do not determine tax liability, benefits eligibility, legal rights, suitability, or a personal investment recommendation.

Each high-impact rule identifies its source, version, next review date, and whether it can currently be used. The Canadian reference pages state the same figures in plain language.
